Many Cardiogram users have told us they bought their aging parent or a loved one an Apple Watch for Christmas to help them track their health. One of the most common questions we get asked from these users is, “wouldn’t it be great if I could remotely monitor my parent’s heart rate data and help track whether anything is out of the ordinary?” With Cardiogram Family Mode, now you can!
We’re excited to announce the launch of Cardiogram Family Mode today, available in the App Store and Google Play Store. With Family Mode, you’ll be able to remotely monitor a loved one’s wearable data, including heart rate, step counts, sleeping patterns, workouts, diagnostic tests, habits, and more.
How does it work?
To share your Cardiogram data with a family member, you’ll send them an invite link. When your loved one clicks on the special link, it’ll allow them to see your data within their Cardiogram app. If you no longer want to share your data with them, you can simply revoke the sharing access. You’re in full control of who and when you want to share!
Cross-platform support
What if your mom or dad uses an Android phone, but you use an iPhone? The great thing about Cardiogram Family Mode is that it’s cross-platform. You can use your Android phone to remotely monitor your parent’s Apple Watch data, or use your iPhone to remotely monitor your parent’s Android Watch data.
Cardiogram was designed from the beginning to work across all wearable platforms. This is important because the top five wearable manufacturers combined — Xiaomi, Apple, Fitbit, Huawei, and Samsung — make up only half of all wearable shipments. [1] Cardiogram is now integrated with Apple Watch, Android Watches (WearOS, formerly Android Wear), and Garmin devices, and will be adding support for many more wearables this year.
You asked and we answered
We built family mode because real people are asking for it:
“I have installed Apple Watch and Cardiogram for my mother. Thanks to that, we saved her life. But now I would like to know if I can check her metrics remotely.”
“I’m wondering if there is a way for other users to be invited by your app to see what a person’s heart rate is? This would be a great feature to help keep an eye on my mom and I would think other people would benefit from this feature addition.”
Share with Doctor
Many users have also asked us whether they can share Cardiogram data with their doctor. The biggest problem with cardiac conditions is that they’re often episodic and you almost have to “get lucky” to be in an episode while visiting the doctor’s office.
With the Share with Doctor feature, you can now receive a PDF printout of your past Cardiogram data, which you can email to your doctor or print it out to bring into your next cardiologist’s appointment.
Cardiogram Premium
Both Cardiogram Family Mode and Share with Doctor are available today, under the new Premium pane. You can access these features via a $14.99 / month subscription, or $8.33 / month if prepaid for 12 months.
We hope these features help you and your loved ones better manage their health. Give it a try and let us know what you think! We’d love to hear from you: [email protected].
